2006 - the year in review
Here's sorta my year in review. I've done this one before on other past diaries....
1.What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
I've gotten my "dream job" at the hospital. Working with babies and mommies and learning lots of nursing stuff I'll need someday.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any. That way when I go back and answer that dumb question I'm not a failure lol.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Close to me, no. But I get to watch lots and lots of mommies take care of babies right after birth and I get to meet the family and take care of the baby and take pictures of them and dress them up and change dirty diapers. Yay! I also get to see another baby very soon and he may even get to live with us!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope
5. What countries did you visit?
Just the good ole US of A. Went to Texas on vacation this summer and had a blast. I thoroughly enjoyed Oklahoma as well. Had an awesome meal at the Cracker Barrel in Oklahoma City and visited the memorial there from the Oklahoma City bombing. It was very neat. Loved Dallas too but it's too big and way too much traffic for me.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
More money. I took my dream job but took it up the ass with my paycheck. Not good. I hope to make more money.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I thoroughly enjoyed July 4th. I was watching the Texas Rangers play baseball and the fireworks and patriotic stuff they did for the fourth was pretty darn awesome!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a job I love. Oh and getting a new car!!!!!
9. What was your biggest failure?
I'm not sure I've had a huge failure but making peanuts for money would be one I guess.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope, don't think so.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My car!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Jax and Cassidy!
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My neighbors D.B. and L.F. for sure. They are lying pieces of shit. My mom's too sometimes.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food, bills, just general shit. And a shit ton went into vacation too!
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting my new car and getting my new job! And I was so excited about our vacation too.
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter, "How to Save a Life" by The Fray, and "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Oh that's a tough one. In general I'm happier but a few things make me sad.
ii. thinner or fatter? I would say about the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer for sure.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working out. Saving money.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying about shit. Being mad at the neigbors. Putting up with their shit.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Grand Island with family and in Omaha with family.
21. Did you fall in love?
As always :)
23. How many one-night stands?
Ewwww none.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
My faves right now are Grey's Anatomy (DUH) Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, Dr. Phil, Oprah, The Biggest Loser, Top Chef, Most Haunted.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Oh yea....the ex neighbors.
26. What was the best book you read?
True Believer by Nicholas Sparks
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hands down....The Fray
28. What did you want and get?
A new car and a new job.
29. What did you want and not get?
More money. For my ex-husband to fall off the face of the earth.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Damn I really didn't watch a lot of movies this year. Not a single movie even stands out right now. I liked Flags of our Fathers. With so much school this year and lack of funds, I haven't seen a lot of movies.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 34 and I went out to eat a lot.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably satisfying?
Moving out of this damn apartment.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Just the usual comfy close and towards the end it involved medical scrubs. And lots of them.
34. What kept you sane?
Jax, chocolate and Marlboro's.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Will always love Matt Damon! Ty Pennington gets me going too :)
36. What political issue stirred you the most? The Dems taking over congress.
37. Who did you miss?
I can't really say that I missed anybody at all.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
For sure Steve and Linda next door!

Sometimes you have to sacrifice things to achieve your dream.
