Shit hits the floor
The shootings yesterday were horrendous at Virginia Tech. My thoughts and prayers go out to each victim and their families, as well as the many faculty and students. It was senseless and I wish it hadn't of happened.
But before I leave that subject alone, I have to say this. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. So all of you people who want to blame the NRA and the president shut your mouths. If you ban guns, people who want them will still get them. So whatever. And I'm sorry if you don't agree. But this is my page and I can voice my opinion. I'm just pissed that everybody had to get all mouthy. Let's grieve this incident shall we? I mean can these bodies at least be in the grown before we start pointing fingers?
It's been a long ass day. I get to work only to find out I am being floated to another unit. It was okay although we got like 5 admits and that was not fun. But that's the way it goes I guess. Today I answered a call light and it was this nice little 92 year old man who needed his colostomy bag emptied. Not a problem for me, since I had a colostomy once upon a time and they don't scare me in the least. So I get it all set up and ready to dump it in the container when suddenly some of it leaked out and didn't hit the container. That's right, liquid shit hit the floor right between my feet. And I have to say, some of it splattered onto my shoes. Crazy huh? And the scariest thing of all is the fact that it didn't even bother me. I just wiped it up and went on with my day. THAT'S why I need to be a nurse. Because stuff that might gag some people out is like everyday news to me. And he was just too cute, this little old man. I've taken care of him before and they don't get any cuter than him.
THen about 5:00 I got called back to Peds because they were getting to back-to-back admissions. So I went down there and helped out as much as I could. It was a weird day because I didn't really run my ass off but I'm dead tired nonetheless. I don't think I'm gonna have ANY trouble sleeping tonight.
Right now I'm watching the new "Dog The Bounty Hunter". If you've never heard of that show you must live under a rock. If so, I demand you to find A&E on your TV and watch because you are missing out if you don't.
Shit I'm too tired to even finish. I need a pillow and a blanket. Soon.
